A keg collar is a printed label that fits around the valve neck of a keg, identifying the beverage inside brand, style, ABV (Alcohol by Volume), and required regulatory information to distributors, bar staff, and inspectors. It's the only branding most draft products carry once they leave the brewery, since the keg itself is unmarked steel. Keg Collar Types We Print

Adhesive-backed collars (H3) stick directly to the top of the keg around the valve. They're quick to apply on high-speed filling lines, stay securely attached during shipping and handling, and are widely used by larger breweries. Depending on your keg cleaning process, they can be printed with either clean-release adhesive for easy removal or permanent adhesive for maximum hold.

Tie-on collars (H3) attach with an elastic band, string, or zip tie through a punched hole. They remove instantly when kegs return, which keg-washing crews prefer, and they suit breweries that rotate many styles through a shared keg pool. They're also the common choice for one-off and small-batch releases.

Slip-over (valve-fit) collars (H3) have a die-cut center hole that fits over the keg valve, allowing them to rest securely on the keg top without adhesive or fasteners. They are quick to install, easy to remove, and well suited for reusable keg programs. Because they aren't attached to the keg, they can shift or come off if the keg is inverted or handled roughly, so a properly sized center hole is essential for a secure fit.

Keg Collar Sizes

Standard keg collars are die-cut circles measuring approximately 7"-8.5" in diameter with a center hole sized to fit the keg valve. The best size depends on the keg format and the amount of branding space required.

• Half Barrel Keg Collars (15.5 gal): The standard choice for commercial breweries, offering ample space for branding and required product information.
• Quarter Barrel Keg Collars (7.75 gal): Typically use the same collar size as half barrels, so one size covers both formats.
• Sixtel Keg Collars (5.16 gal): Usually produced in a smaller diameter to fit the reduced keg top without overhang.
• Euro Keg Collars (30L & 50L): Most 30L and 50L Euro kegs use standard keg collar sizes.
• Custom Shapes and Sizes: Custom diameters and die-cut shapes, including square, badge, and contour-cut collars, are available to match your branding and keg specifications.

Regulatory Compliance for Keg Collars

In the United States, keg collars generally must include the same key product information required on beer bottles and cans under TTB labeling regulations, including the brand name, class or type designation, brewer or bottler name and address, net contents, and the mandatory government health warning statement. Alcohol content (ABV) must also be included where required or permitted. The government health warning must meet minimum print size and legibility requirements. In addition to federal regulations, individual states may require keg registration or deposit language, and ABV labeling requirements can vary by state.
